It works but not to the extent that I would recommend it. The use of the accelorometer is slow and a little erratic. Not really a musical instrument interface. Why bother with the screen graphic of the moving arm?
I have to say, this is really fun. I mean, I saw the other 2 comments above and did not think it would be good, but it is! Its really good too when you are bored and want to do something. Again really good.
This app doesnt work on my iPhone 4s... Waste of money! :(
really missing touch-modes: 1. X axis means volume, Y axis means tone. 2. X axis means vibrato, Y axis means tone, touch area means volume now its just a toy, no practic sence at all. 2 stars, hope soon i could give more =)
Ive built and played all sorts of theremins and was excited to see an app for the iPhone. My major gripe is the lack of true control over pitch. Wildy jumps an octave or two when you are going for a small interval. The tracking is just not consistent. I suspect this is a short-coming of the iPhone itself, not the software. What I do like about this app is; the nice vibrato control options, the 3 different waveform options and the "chromatic" option. What I would like to see in future releases; better movement-to-pitch tracking(most important), simple reverb or delay, and filter/tone control for the waveforms.
Hey, just in time for Halloween... some classic theremin sound effects! Sounds great, and it has range buttons for choosing either finer control or a wider range of pitches. Sounds extra-weird when you add lots of vibrato. And the animated Theremin player waves his hands at the antenna, just like youd do playing an old school theremin. Easily worth 99 cents!
This is my favorite app so far. Works great, nice and stable, lots of fun. Great job!
Infinitely better than the Thereminator app. Amazing!
I had problems getting sound out of the app at first and had to reinstall it to get it working. Once I did that it worked. Like a real Theremin it is hard to control and find the correct pitch. Im still struggling to play the "Good Vibrations" theremin part. The animation of Leon Theremin is fun an option for Clara Rockmore would be even more fun,
Probably the only iPhone application that pays tribute to a former Soviet secret agent (he was kidnapped from the United States by the GRU/KGB/whatever it was called back then, and the circumstances of his death are still lost in the fog of the Soviet Union), it offers the average Joe a chance to experiment with a musical Instrument that was once written for by serious modern composers like Varesé. While the chromatic setting offers you more control, you should keep it set on the default for authenticity. Ditto the vibrato - sometimes its best not to try to improve on the original. And the animation of the inventor in icing on the cake. Mind you, its not the real thing. But, as someone already said, at a thousandth of the price (and weight), the cost to you makes this a bargain route to ownership of a piece of music history.
What you see is what you get. Id like to see some additional synths added later on, but all in all Im happy.
The app worked great at first, but now I get no sound. Ive tried to reload and still the same relults. To bad. The program seemed pretty good, when it worked.
Fun graphics and good sound. At 99 cents its a pretty good value, but if you are a Theremin fan and want features, the Theremin-ator looks like itd be the better choice. Im thinking I should have gone with the latter. This one has a choice of three wave forms (sine, triangle, square), but youd really only want Sine. It has a good range. Pitching the phone left to right changes note low to high. Aiming the phone down while on the left lowers the note more, while doing so on the right raises it higher. Having some echo would really bring it to life. Not having any dynamic volume control is problematic (I use the volume slider)
Like a real theremin. I say buy it. play with it a few times, cos thats all its worth. I have the same feelings Thereminator. Great effort, but not worth the money.
Does not work. Ive re-installed several times. DONT waste you money.
Simple & fun. The only complaints I have are that the settings sliders dont always respond well & the iPhone goes into standby too quickly for this app. Some kind of touch control would easily fix this problem.
Way cheaper than a theremin but still fun.
ugly icon, kinda ugly ui, too, but totally cool toy. great fun.
Seriously. This is going to help me make about 1000 pointless jokes in the coming years. Its perfect.
